Note: The following signs may indicate wheel damage.
  • - Increased resistance to steering wheel rotation.
  • - Increased vibration of the car.
  • - The car is pulled to the side.

To change a damaged tire, pull over to the edge of the roadway and, taking precautions, drive slowly to the nearest level area that is a safe distance from the roadway. Stopping your car on the roadway or on the edge of a busy road is dangerous.

Stop the vehicle on a level surface at a safe distance from traffic and fully set the parking brake. Move the range selector lever to the "Park (P)" position (car with automatic transmission) or move the gearshift lever to first gear or reverse gear (car with manual transmission) and turn off the engine. Turn on the hazard warning lights.

Make sure passengers are out of the car and at a safe distance from the roadway. Remove the jack, tools and spare tire. Place wheel chocks in front and behind the wheel that is diagonally opposite the damaged one.
