Instructions for starting the engine with an over-rich fuel-air mixture (gasoline engine) (Mazda 3 BK)

If the engine does not start, the possible cause is an over-enriched fuel-air mixture (an excess amount of fuel entered the engine combustion chambers) and fuel getting onto the spark plugs.

To start the engine in this situation, follow these steps:.

1. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and hold it down.

2. Turn the ignition switch to the "START" position and hold it in this position for up to 10 seconds. If the engine starts, immediately release the starter switch and the accelerator pedal. If this is not done immediately, the engine speed will increase sharply.

3. If the engine does not start when the starter is operated with the accelerator pedal fully depressed, after a 10-second pause, operate the starter without pressing the accelerator pedal. Crank the crankshaft with the starter for 10 seconds or until the engine starts.
