Check the pressure monthly in all tires, including the spare. To ensure the best combination of ride and handling, as well as long tire life, maintain the recommended air pressure in your tires (see door label, Fig. 1.185).
Check air pressure only on cold tires.
Warm tires usually have higher air pressure than recommended. Never bleed warm tires to normalize the pressure. Insufficient air pressure results in poor fuel economy, uneven and accelerated wear of tire treads, poor tire fit on the rim flange, and spontaneous tire detachment from the rim.
Excessive tire pressure reduces ride quality, causes uneven and accelerated tire wear, and increases the risk of tire damage from road imperfections. Maintain the recommended tire pressure. If frequent tire inflation is required, inspect the tire and wheel for damage.
