Fig. 1.190. Location of the plate with the recommended air pressure in the tires
Check the pressure in all tires monthly, including the spare tire. Air pressure should be checked when the tires are cold. To ensure the best combination of ride and handling, as well as long tire life, maintain the recommended air pressure in your tires (see door label, Fig. 1.190).
Check air pressure only on cold tires.
Usually, the air pressure in warm tires exceeds the recommended value. It is prohibited to bleed air from warm tires in order to bring the air pressure to normal. Insufficient air pressure leads to deterioration of fuel economy, uneven and accelerated wear of tire treads, deterioration of the tire fit on the rim shelves. This can lead to spontaneous detachment of the tire from the wheel rim.
Excessive tire pressure reduces ride quality, causes uneven and accelerated tire wear, and increases the risk of tire damage from road imperfections. Maintain the recommended tire pressure. If a tire requires frequent inflation, inspect the tire and wheel for damage.
