Pic. 1.190. Location of the recommended tire pressure label
Check the pressure of all tires monthly, including the spare wheel. The air pressure must be checked with cold tyres. For the best combination of ride and handling, and long tire life, maintain the recommended tire pressures (see door label, fig. 1.190).
Check air pressure only when tires are cold.
Usually, in warm tires, the air pressure exceeds the recommended value. It is forbidden to bleed air from warm tires in order to bring the air pressure back to normal. Insufficient air pressure leads to a deterioration in fuel efficiency, uneven and accelerated wear of tire treads, and a deterioration in the tightness of the tire on the rim shelves. This can lead to the spontaneous derailment of the tire from the wheel rim.
Excessive tire pressure will impair ride comfort, cause uneven and accelerated tire wear, and increase the risk of tire damage from road bumps. Maintain the recommended air pressure in the tires. If you need to inflate a tire frequently, check the condition of the tire and wheel for damage.
