Warning! When opening the fuel filler neck, first loosen the cap slightly and wait until the fuel vapors stop escaping, accompanied by a characteristic hissing sound. Then loosen and remove the cap completely. Fuel may spray out of the filler neck if there is excess pressure in the fuel tank and the filler cap is loosened and removed too quickly. Before refueling, turn off the engine and always make sure that there are no sparks or open flames near the filler neck. Fuel vapors can easily be ignited by sparks or open flames, which can cause severe burns and injury. In addition, using a fuel cap that is not intended for your vehicle or not having a cap on the fuel filler neck can cause fuel to leak or splash out, leading to severe burns or death in the event of an accident.

To open the fuel filler flap, pull up on the remote release handle (Fig. 1.46).

To remove the cap, unscrew it by turning it counterclockwise. To close the fuel tank neck, screw the cap on by turning it clockwise until it clicks (Fig. 1.47).
