If the air bag system and front seat belt pretensioners are in good condition, the malfunction indicator comes on when the ignition switch is turned to the "ON" position (ignition on) or when the starter is turned on. After about 6 seconds, the malfunction indicator goes out.
If the indicator light flashes, stays on constantly, or does not turn on at all when the ignition switch is turned to the "ON" position (ignition on), - this indicates a malfunction of the airbag system or seat belt pretensioners. In this case, immediately contact the service station of the authorized Mazda dealer. If the indicator indicates a malfunction, the system may not work in a traffic accident.
