If the impact sensors, which are elements of the airbag system, detect a frontal or side impact whose force exceeds a predetermined level, they send an electrical signal to activate the gas generators of the corresponding airbags and curtains. The gas generator ensures the deployment and inflation of the airbag shell, after which the airbag quickly deflates. Airbags are disposable devices and cannot be reused. Once activated, the airbags become inoperative and must be replaced. To replace the airbags, contact only an authorized Mazda dealer.
