Measure the side clearance of the connecting rod lower head (fig. 2.169).
If the connecting rod small end side clearance exceeds the maximum, replace the piston, piston pin, piston ring and connecting rod assembly.
- Normal clearance: 0.14–0.36 mm.
- Maximum clearance: 0.435 mm.
