Checking the steering rod (Mazda 6 GG)

Check the steering rod for deformation and damage. Replace it if necessary.

Check the ball joint clearance. Replace the steering rod if necessary.

Rock the steering rod five times.



Measure the moment of resistance to swing using a dynamometer (Fig. 5.29).

Rolling resistance moment: 0.1–4.0 Nm.

Dynamometer readings: 0.6–24.5 N.

If the measurement result differs from the specified one, replace the rod.
