Checking the ignition timing setting (Mazda 6 GG)

Note: In normal cases, the ignition timing angle is not adjustable. To check the ignition timing angle setting, a specialist and a WDS device or its equivalent are required.

Turn off electrical consumers and warm up the engine.

Start the engine.

Maintain engine speed at approximately 3000 rpm until the cooling fans begin to operate.

Release the accelerator pedal.

Wait until the cooling system fans turn off.

Check the ignition timing setting for compliance (WDS: PID SPARKADV) normal, using WDS or similar.

The ignition timing angle is set to approximately 10° BTDC.

Make sure that the ignition timing advances in tandem with engine speed.
