To securely fasten a child restraint with a seat belt that is set to automatic locking mode, follow the instructions below.
1. Make sure the rear seatback is secure. To do this, press the seatback back until the latch is released.
2. Secure the child restraint with the lap strap of the lap belt. See the label on the child restraint for instructions on how to wire the seat belt.

3. To switch the retractable seat belt reel to automatic lockout mode, pull the seat belt fully out of the reel (pic. 1.139).
4. Install the child restraint firmly on the vehicle seat. Make sure the seat belt is taut and fully retracted onto the retractable reel. If the inertia reel is switched to automatic lock mode, a click will be heard when the belt is released onto the reel. If the seat belt has not tightened and pressed the child restraint firmly against the seat, repeat this operation.
Note. Check the automatic locking of the seat belt before each use of the child restraint. If the inertia reel is set to automatic locking mode, the seat belt should not protrude when you try to pull it off the reel. After removing the child restraint, fully retract the seat belt onto the retractable reel to switch it to the emergency belt lock mode. Check that the seat belt is working properly before placing a passenger in this seat.
