To securely fasten a child restraint system with a seat belt that is in the automatic locking mode, follow the instructions below.
1. Make sure that the rear seat back is securely locked in place by pushing the seat back backwards until the lock engages.
2. Secure the child restraint system using the lap belt of the diagonal-lap seat belt. The instructions for routing the seat belt are provided on the child restraint system label.

3. To switch the seat belt retractor to the automatic belt release locking mode, pull the seat belt out of the retractor completely (fig. 1.139).
4. Firmly install the child restraint system on the vehicle seat. Make sure the seat belt is tight and fully retracted onto the retractor. If the retractor is in the automatic locking mode, you will hear a clicking sound when the belt is retracted. If the seat belt does not tighten and press the child restraint system firmly onto the seat, repeat this operation.
Note: Check the automatic locking of the seat belt before each use of the child restraint. If the retractor is set to the automatic locking mode, the seat belt should not be released when you try to pull it out of the retractor. After removing the child restraint, fully retract the seat belt to the retractor to set it to the emergency locking mode. Check the normal operation of the seat belt before placing a passenger in this seat.
