Check that when coupling a loaded or empty trailer, the vehicle body remains approximately in a horizontal position, as without a trailer. It is prohibited to operate a road train if the vehicle body is tilted strongly forward or backward. Check the vertical load on the towing hitch and the serviceability of the suspension components. Make sure that the trailer is not overloaded.

Check that the loads transported in the trailer are securely fastened. This is necessary to prevent the possibility of load shifting.

Make sure that the rear view mirrors comply with all requirements of the current regulations. Check the serviceability and installation of the rear view mirrors.

Before starting your journey, check that all external lighting and light signaling devices installed on the vehicle and trailer are working properly. Check the towing hitch, safety chains, electrical connectors and other connections between the vehicle and trailer. After driving a short distance, stop and check again that all external lighting and light signaling devices are working properly, as well as all connecting units between the vehicle and trailer.

Remember that the maneuverability of a road train differs from the maneuverability of a car without a trailer. Therefore, make U-turns, move in reverse, and stop on sections of the road that are free of traffic.

Take your time, first get used to the increased weight and length of the road train.

When towing a trailer, the speed limit must not exceed 100 km/h. If the Road Traffic Regulations establish stricter restrictions, these restrictions must be followed.
