Control of the variable valve timing mechanism (Mazda 6 GG)

The Mazda 6 (GG) variable valve timing control is essentially taken from the current MX-5 (NB) model, with the exception of the scrub mode and maximum retard mode to match vehicle characteristics.

The conditions of the cleaning mode are as follows:

• decrease in engine speed when closing the throttle valve;
• engine speed - between 2250 min⁻¹ and 3500 min⁻¹;
• coolant temperature - above 80°C maximum delay;

In addition, one of the following conditions must be met:

• launch;
• engine speed - below 970 min⁻¹;
• coolant temperature - below 18°C;
• target valve opening or closing moment - 0;
• torque reduction.
