The design and operation of the on-board diagnostic system is essentially the same as that of the current MPV (LW) with GY/FS engine, except for the conditions below.

Diagnostic codes, monitored parameters and simulation parameters have been changed to comply with regulations.

The KOEO/KOER self-monitoring function has been implemented. Therefore, the existing malfunction or successful repair is immediately confirmed.

The process of storing unfinished codes has been changed as follows.

1 type of driving cycle

On the current MPV (LW) model with GY/FS engine, pending codes are not available. On the Mazda 6 (GG) model, however, the pending code is stored in the PCM during the driving cycle.

2 type of driving cycle

On the current MPV (LW) model with GY/FS engine, pending codes are cleared when the diagnostic codes are written. On the Mazda 6 (GG) model, even if the diagnostic code is stored, the PCM does not clear the pending code until the normal condition occurs (the malfunction has been fixed).

The operation mode of the Type 2 MIL indicator lamp has been changed as follows:

Mazda 6 (GG) model

The PCM determines that a malfunction exists in the first drive cycle when it detects a diagnostic code that has been stored in the PCM during previous drive cycles.

Modern MPV (LW) with GY/FS engine

The PCM determines that a fault exists in the second drive cycle.
