If a decision has been made to remove the engine, then carry out preparatory measures before doing so.

It is extremely important to determine the place where the work will be carried out. Undoubtedly, the best place is a workshop. It is very important to have an equipped work site, as well as a place to store the car. If there is no workshop or garage, then a flat, smooth concrete or asphalt site will be required.

Washing the engine compartment and engine before removal will keep the tool clean and in good working order at all times.

You will also need a lift or hoist. Make sure that these devices have a load capacity reserve and are capable of lifting the engine with all attachments. Compliance with safety measures is of paramount importance, since lifting the engine from the car is a potentially dangerous operation.

If the engine removal work is carried out by an inexperienced person, then an assistant will be needed. Consult and ask for help from people who have experience in such work. There are many ways to perform the work of lifting the engine from the engine compartment, which exclude their implementation alone.

Plan your actions in advance. Prepare all the necessary tools and equipment before you begin work. Some devices that ensure safety during engine removal and installation, as well as reducing labor costs, include: (besides the lift) sturdy stands, a full set of wrenches and mandrels, wooden blocks, rags and solvent for cleaning up the inevitable puddles of spilled operating fluids. If you rent a lift, agree on this in advance and perform all the work that does not require this mechanism. This will save money and time.

Please note that you will not be able to use your car for a significant period of time. To perform some work that is not possible at home (due to lack of special equipment), you will have to contact a service station or a specialized workshop. These companies work according to a plan, so it would be advisable to consult them before removing the engine in order to accurately estimate the time required for repairs and restoration of parts.

Always be very careful when removing the engine. Thoughtless actions and haste can cause serious injuries. Think about your actions in advance. Do not spare time for this, as the main thing is to work without injuries.
