Safety precautions when working with the cooling system (Mazda CX-5KE)

Attention.

• Do not remove the cooling system cap or the radiator drain plug while the engine is running or when the engine and radiator are hot. Boiling coolant and steam may escape and cause serious burns. It may also cause damage to the engine and cooling system.
• Turn off the engine and wait until it cools down. Even then, open the cooling system cap with great care. Wrap the cap with a thick cloth and slowly turn it counterclockwise to the first fixed position to release excess pressure in the system.
• After the pressure in the cooling system has been normalized, press the cover with a cloth and, turning, remove it.
• Depending on the vehicle version, the radiator fan may operate even when the ignition is off. Therefore, it is necessary to keep hands and tools away from the blades of the fan, even when it is not operating, to avoid injury and damage to the fan. Always disconnect the negative battery terminal when servicing the radiator fan or components near it.
