When performing any repair work on the injection system, no matter the scope, it is necessary to maintain the strictest cleanliness. Therefore, it is especially important to observe the following points:
- All work on the injection unit must be carried out only in a clean environment. Work outdoors should only be carried out on windless days to avoid dust.
- All union nuts must be wiped with a cloth before unscrewing.
- Place all parts to be removed on a clean workbench or other similar place and cover with paper or film. Do not use any wet cloths to cover.
- All exposed or partially disassembled injection system parts must be suitably covered or stored in a closed box if repairs are to be carried out at a later date.
- Before installation, check all parts for impeccable cleanliness.
- If the unit is open, do not use compressed air to blow out any engine parts.
- If possible, do not move the vehicle if the injection system components have been removed.
- Make sure that diesel fuel cannot come into contact with the radiator hoses. If this happens, they need to be cleaned immediately. Hoses contaminated with diesel fuel and therefore damaged must always be replaced.
