Press the brake pedal several times.
Check the travel of the parking brake lever by pulling the parking brake lever with a force equal to 98 N.
Piston stroke: 3–6 clicks.

Adjusting the parking brake system
Start the engine and press the brake pedal several times.
Stop the engine.
Remove the ashtray behind the center console.

Turn the adjusting nut as shown in Figure 6.48.
After adjustment, do the following:
- turn the ignition key to the ON position, pull the parking brake lever one click and check that the parking brake warning light comes on;
- make sure that the rear brakes do not lock the wheels.
Removal and installation of the parking brake system
Remove the center console.
Remove the rear seat cushion (4SD) or rear seat.

Remove the exhaust pipe bracket.
Remove the parking brake switch connector.
Loosen the adjusting nut, parking brake lever mounting bolts and remove the lever assembly.
Install in the reverse order of removal.
Adjust the travel of the parking brake lever.
