1. If the parking brake is adjusted correctly, it should fully engage between 7 and 9 clicks.

2. Start the engine, press the brake pedal two or three times and turn off the engine.

3. Remove the parking brake cover and use a screwdriver to turn the adjusting screw until the lever travel is within the normal range. The parking brake indicator light on the instrument panel should come on after the lever has moved one notch.

4. Release the parking brake and make sure that the rear wheels do not drag (push the car back and forth).
