Replacing the oil filter (Mazda 6 GG)

Remove the oil filter drain plug.

Loosen the oil filter cap 2 turns and drain the engine oil (fig. 2.202).

Remove the oil filter.

Use a clean rag to wipe the seating surface on the adapter and oil filter cover.

Apply clean oil to the new O-ring on the new oil filter and the new oil filter drain plug.

Install the oil filter, oil filter drain plug and oil filter cover (fig. 2.203).

Tighten the oil filter cap and oil filter drain plug.

Tightening torque:
  • oil filter cover - 30–35 Nm;
  • oil filter drain plug - 9.0–11 Nm.

Start the engine and check for oil leaks.

Check the oil level. Top up if necessary.
