Replacing the oil filter (Mazda 3 BK)

1. Using a special tool, unscrew the oil filter (fig. 1.178).

2. Wipe the mating surface of the oil filter housing with a clean cloth.

3. Apply clean engine oil to the oil filter O-ring.

4. Install the filter and tighten it by hand.

5. Using a special tool, tighten the filter an additional 3/4 turn.

6. Start the engine and check for oil leaks.

7. Check the oil level and top it up to normal if necessary.
