Perform a color contrast inspection of the cylinder head surface. Using a penetrating dye, check for cracks in the combustion chambers, intake and exhaust ports, and gas joint surfaces (fig. 2.136).
If there are cracks, replace the cylinder head or weld it (with subsequent grinding).
Check the valve seat depth, radial and axial clearances of the camshaft bearings (see below).

Measure the cylinder head in six directions to detect warpage (fig. 2.137).

If the deformation exceeds the maximum, replace the cylinder head.
- Maximum warpage: 0.10 mm.
- Maximum grinding: 0.15 mm.
