Caution. Removing the shock absorber strut, tailgate hinge mounting bolts, or the tailgate itself without support may cause the tailgate to fall and cause injury. Removing the shock absorber strut, tailgate hinge mounting bolts, or the tailgate itself must be done by two people.
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the upper trim of the trunk door.
3. Disconnect the connectors shown in the figure.
4. Versions with rear window wiper: Disconnect rear washer hose D.
5. Versions with RDS system (radio data system): unscrew bolt A.
6. Versions with RDS system (radio data system): remove clip A.
7. Partially bend the trunk lid bushing in the direction of the arrow (1) in the figure, and remove the bushing from the inner trunk lid bushing.
8. Using a flat-head screwdriver wrapped with electrical tape, press the inner strips B of the trunk lid bushings in the direction of arrows (2) and (3) in the figure and remove the inner trunk lid bushings in the direction of arrow (4).
9. Versions with rear window wiper: remove the rear washer hose D from the tailgate and place it to the side.
10. Remove the wiring harness from the trunk door and set it aside.
11. Using a flat-head screwdriver wrapped in electrical tape, remove the damper strut retaining clamp in the direction of the arrow (5) in the figure.
12. Loosen bolts C.
13. Remove the shock absorber struts.
14. Unscrew the ball studs.
15. Loosen bolts D.
16. Remove the trunk door.
17. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
