Caution. Removing the shock absorber strut, tailgate hinge mounting bolts, or the tailgate itself without support may cause the tailgate to fall and cause injury. Removing the shock absorber strut, tailgate hinge mounting bolts, or the tailgate itself must be done by two people.


1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Remove the upper trim of the trunk door.

3. Disconnect the connectors shown in the figure.
