The locking system does not allow the lever to be moved out of the "P" (parking) position unless the brake pedal is pressed.

To move the lever out of the "P" (park) position, follow these steps:.

1. Press and hold the brake pedal.

2. Start the engine.

3. Move the range selector lever.

Note: The range selector lever cannot be moved out of the "P" (park) position if the ignition switch is in the "ACC" position (auxiliary consumers of electricity) or "LOCK" (blocking). As a safety precaution, it is not possible to remove the ignition key from the ignition switch unless the range selector lever is in the "P" (Park) position (Vehicles with a wearable map) "Advanced Key")

The ignition switch cannot be turned from the "ACC" position (auxiliary consumers of electricity) to the "LOCK" position (blocking), if the range selector lever is not in the "P" (parking) position.
