Removal
Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Remove the fuel tank.
Remove the quick release connector.
Caution: The fuel pump cover may be damaged if the special tool is not installed tightly on the cover.
Caution: Securely attach the special device so that there is no gap between the tongues of the special device and the side surface of the cover.

Remove the fuel pump cover using a special tool (fig. 2.322).
Remove the fuel pump unit.
Installation
Note: If there is gasoline on the gasket, the fuel pump unit will rotate and cannot be secured in the specified position.
Note: Be sure to thoroughly wipe off all gasoline from the gasket.

Align the timing marks on the fuel pump and fuel tank as shown in Figure 2.323.
Install the special device.
Using the special tool, tighten the fuel pump cover to the specified tightening torque, without allowing the timing marks to move.
If the specified tightening torque cannot be achieved, replace the fuel pump cover and gasket.
If the specified tightening torque cannot be achieved after replacing the fuel pump cover and gasket, replace the fuel tank.
Fuel pump cover tightening torque: 80–90 Nm.
