Fuel Pump (EGI) — checking, removing and installing (Mazda Capella GC)

1. To check the fuel pump pressure, follow the procedures given in the article "Fuel Pressure (EGI) - Checking", but without using the T-connector. Check that the fuel pressure is between 3.5-5.0 kg/cm².



2. To check the fuel pump armature windings, block the front wheels, jack up the rear of the vehicle and support it on axle stands.

3. Disconnect the fuel pump wiring connector, then use an ohmmeter to check that the resistance across the two terminals is approximately 1.0 ohms. If not, the fuel pump is faulty.

4. To remove the fuel pump (photo), disconnect the inlet and outlet hoses, separate the electrical wiring connector (if it hasn't been removed yet), and unscrew the mounting bracket from the bottom.



5. With the fuel pump removed, you can test its operation by applying 12 volts to the connector terminals.

6. Assembly is carried out in reverse order.
