If the fuel pump does not work (no noise from work can be heard), then you need to check the voltage supply in the following sequence: the safety switch at the bottom left in the driver's footwell (Ford KA: on the right in the front passenger footwell) must be on, the fuel pump fuse must be intact. The location of the fuses is indicated in the chapter "Electrical equipment".

If no faults are found, check the fuel pump relay and replace it if necessary. Checking the relay is described in the chapter "Electrical equipment".

Ford Fiesta/Mazda 121: Open the hood and remove the seal on the side of the engine compartment bulkhead.

Ford KA: Open the fuse box cover under the instrument panel. Unscrew the two bolts and remove the central mounting block by pulling it out. Behind the mounting block is the relay block.

Carefully pull the fuel pump relay upwards and replace it with a working relay. Ford Fiesta/Mazda 121: the relay is located in the second place from the right (see picture). Ford KA: The relay is located in the second place at the bottom right on the relay block under the instrument panel.

If there is no working relay, then short-circuit contacts 3 and 5 in the relay socket with a thick wire. The fuel pump should start working (you can hear the noise near the fuel tank). If this is not the case, then the wires or the fuel pump are faulty.

In the workshop, you can check the fuel performance and pressure using special devices. Required values: fuel pump performance - 80 l/h, pressure - 3.0 bar.

Installation

Insert a working relay.

Ford KA: Install the central mounting block.

Install the fuse box cover.

Ford Fiesta/Mazda 121: Install the seal on the engine compartment bulkhead.

Start the engine and check its operation.
