Checking the EGI water temperature sensor
1. Remove the rubber boot from the wiring connector on the water temperature sensor (photo).

2. Start the engine and warm it up to normal temperature, then let it idle.
3. Using a voltmeter, check for approximately 0.5 volts between the LR terminal and ground.
4. To check the operation of the sensor, drain the liquid from the cooling system, disconnect the electrical wiring and unscrew the block. Dip the block into a container of water and attach an ohmmeter to the clamps. Heat the water and use a thermometer to measure the temperature. At 20°C the resistance should be between 2210 and 2690 ohms. At 80°C the resistance should be between 290 and 354 ohms.
5. Replace the sensor if it is defective.
6. Reassemble in reverse order, while replenishing the cooling system as described in Section 1.
