Early (A) and late (B) main relay
1. The main relay is located on the left side of the engine compartment (photo).

2. With the ignition on and using a voltmeter, check that there is battery voltage at terminals A, C and D (clamp B - ground).

3. To test the relay further, remove it and connect an ohmmeter between terminals A and B - the resistance should be approximately 70 ohms.
4. Connect ground to terminal B and apply 12 volts to terminal A.
5. Connect an ohmmeter between terminals C and D and check that the resistance between them is zero.
6. Install the relay after checking it.
