2. The indicator lights come on when the engine speed exceeds 2800 rpm with the accelerator pedal depressed. They do not operate in 5th gear or when decelerating.
3. The throttle over opening indicator light comes on when the intake manifold vacuum is less than 96 - 140 mmHg. It does not work when the vacuum exceeds this amount.
4. To check the offset indicator, attach a tachometer to the engine. Start the engine and check that the check engine light comes on between 2650 and 2950 rpm and remains on when accelerating above that speed.

5. Disconnect the 5th gear shift wiring connector and connect the wire to the clamps. The indicator should not illuminate when the engine speed increases with increasing idle speed.
6. To check the over-throttle indicator, disconnect the hose from the vacuum switch and connect a vacuum pump to it. With the ignition on, the indicator should light when the vacuum is less than 96-140 mmHg, but should go out when the vacuum exceeds this level.
