2. Using the probes, connect the voltmeter to the W terminals on the valve and ground. Increase engine speed, then quickly release the throttle and check that the meter reads zero volts only when decelerating. If not, check the associated wiring (photo).

3. Note the location of the vacuum hoses, then disconnect them. Pull out the electrical connector and unscrew the valve.
4. Bleed air through the throttle body inlet and check that air comes out only from the throttle body passage. Now apply 12 volts to the valve terminals and repeat the test - now air should only come out of the valve air filter channel. Replace the solenoid valve if it is faulty.
5. Assembly is carried out in reverse order.
