Checking the hydraulic camshaft adjuster
Attention.
- A hot engine can cause burns. Before starting work, turn off the engine and wait until it cools down.
- Do not disassemble the hydraulic regulator, valve timing, as it is a precision unit.
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the decorative engine cover.
3. Remove ignition coils/ion sensors.
4. Remove the cylinder head cover.
5. Make sure that the groove of the rotor and the recess of the phase shifter cover are aligned with each other.
If the groove of the rotor and the recess of the cover do not match, rotate the crankshaft in the direction of normal engine rotation per revolution and check the position of the groove and recess again. If they still do not match, replace the hydraulic phase shifter with a new one.
Note: As the crankshaft rotates, a knock will be heard from the hydraulic phase shifter each time the cam reaches maximum lift. This indicates that the drive is not fixed. In this case, it is necessary to replace the hydraulic phase shifter with a new one.
6. Installation is made in an order, the return to removal.
