Attention. A hot engine can cause burns. Before starting work, turn off the engine and wait until it cools down.
Note: Removal / installation of driving belts is made from below the car.
Removal / installation of a belt of a drive of the generator
Attention. To prevent damage to the automatic drive belt tensioner, do not apply excessive force after turning the tensioner all the way.
1. Remove mudguard.
2. Insert a wrench into the hexagon of the automatic drive belt tensioner and loosen the tension by slowly turning it in the direction of the arrow in the figure.
3. Remove the alternator drive belt.
4. Install the alternator drive belt.
5. Turn the crankshaft pulley clockwise about half a turn to ensure that the alternator drive belt is correctly installed. If the ribs of the drive belt and the grooves of the pulleys do not align, remove the drive belt and reinstall it.
6. Verify that the hex pointer on the automatic drive belt tensioner is within the normal range.
7. Install mudguard.
Removing/installing the water pump drive belt
Removing
1. Remove the alternator drive belt (see above).
2. Place a clean cloth on the water pump drive belt as shown.
3. Pull the fabric in the direction of the arrow and turn the crankshaft pulley clockwise to remove the lip of the drive belt from the water pump pulley groove.
Attention. To prevent damage to the drive belt, do not stop rotating the crankshaft pulley while performing the removal procedure (with fabric inserted between drive belt and water pump pulley).
4. Remove the water pump drive belt.
Installation
1. Install one side of the water pump drive belt into the crankshaft pulley groove.
2. Install the other side of the water pump drive belt into the groove of the smaller diameter water pump pulley.
Attention. Be careful not to pinch your fingers between the drive belt and pulley during the procedure. Wearing gloves can cause pinching of fingers between the drive belt and pulley - do not use cotton work gloves when installing the water pump drive belt.
3. Move the drive belt from the circumference of the smaller pulley to the groove of the larger water pump pulley and turn the crankshaft pulley clockwise.
Attention. To prevent damage to the drive belt, do not stop the rotation of the crankshaft pulley when the drive belt is shifted from the smaller water pump pulley to the larger one.
4. After installing the drive belt, turn the crankshaft pulley about half a turn to make sure that the water pump drive belt is installed correctly. If the edge of the drive belt and the pulley groove do not match, remove the drive belt and reinstall it.
5. Install the alternator drive belt.
