Removal / installing the alternator drive belt



Caution: To prevent damage to the automatic drive belt tensioner, do not apply excessive force after turning the tensioner to the stop.


1. Remove the mudguard.

2. Insert the key into the Allen key of the automatic drive belt tensioner and loosen the tension by slowly turning it in the direction of the arrow in the figure.

3. Remove the generator drive belt.

4. Install the generator drive belt.

5. Turn the crankshaft pulley clockwise about half a turn to ensure that the alternator drive belt is installed correctly. If the ribs of the drive belt and the grooves of the pulleys do not match, remove the drive belt and reinstall it.

6. Make sure that the hexagon pointer on the automatic drive belt tensioner is within the normal range.

7. Install the mudguard.

Removal



1. Remove the alternator drive belt (see above).



2. Place a clean cloth on the water pump drive belt as shown in the figure.

Caution: To prevent damage to the drive belt, do not stop the crankshaft pulley from rotating while performing the removal procedure (with fabric inserted between the drive belt and the water pump pulley).

1. Install one side of the water pump drive belt into the groove of the crankshaft pulley.

2. Install the other side of the water pump drive belt into the groove of the water pump pulley, which has a smaller diameter.

Caution: Be careful not to get your fingers caught between the drive belt and pulley when performing this procedure. Wearing gloves may cause your fingers to get caught between the drive belt and pulley - do not use cotton work gloves when installing the water pump drive belt.
