Attention:
- Check the serviceability and tension of the drive belts of mounted units as necessary.
- Check the tension and deflection of the drive belts of mounted units only in the places indicated in the figures.
- Check accessory drive belts with engine cold or wait 30 minutes after engine has stopped.
1 - crankshaft pulley,
2 - coolant pump drives,
3 - drive belt of mounted units,
4 - generator drive pulley,
5 - intermediate pulley,
6 - air conditioning compressor drive pulley.
Examination
1. Check that the drive belts are correctly positioned on the pulleys.
2. Check the drive belts for wear, cracks or splits. If there is damage, replace the belt.
3. Check the deflection of the drive belt under an applied force of 98 N exactly in the middle between the pulleys, as shown in the figure. Adjust if necessary.
Attachment drive belt deflection:
Generator:
- new - 7.4 - 9.4 mm
- used - 8.7-10.4 mm
- maximum - 40.3 mm
Air conditioner compressor:
Together "A":
- new - 6.1 - 6.9 mm
- used - 7.1 - 8.0 mm
- maximum - 11.3 mm
Together "b":
- new - 10.0-11.0 mm
- used - 11.3-12.6 mm
- maximum -17.4 mm
1 - crankshaft pulley,
2 - coolant pump drive pulley,
3 - generator drive pulley,
4 - air conditioning compressor drive pulley.
Note:
- Term "used belt" refers to a belt that has been in operation for more than 5 minutes.
- After installing the belt, start the engine and let it run for 5 minutes, and then check the belt tension again.
- After installing the belt, check that it is properly seated on the pulleys. Check by hand at the bottom of the pulleys for a loose groove in the pulley).
4. Check up a tension of belts of a drive of hinged units.
Install the belt tension test tool between the two pulleys at the locations shown in the figure and check the tension. If the belt tension is less than specified, adjust it.
1 - when installing a special device,
2 - when measuring.
Attachment drive belt tension:
Generator:
- new - 490 - 637 N
- used - 431 - 539 N
- minimum - 225 N
Air conditioner compressor:
- new - 455 - 572 N
- used - 353 - 431 N
- minimum - 156 N
Adjustment
1. Generator drive belt.
A) Loosen the mounting bolt "A" and locknut "IN", indicated in the figure in the subsection "Examination".
b) Turning the adjusting bolt "WITH", adjust the belt tension.
V) Tighten the fastening bolt "A" and locknut "IN".
G) Tighten the adjusting bolt "WITH".
- Tightening torque - 8-10 Nm
d) Recheck accessory drive belt tension.
2. A/C compressor drive belt.
A) Loosen locknut "IN" intermediate pulley indicated in the figure in subsection "Examination".
b) Turning the adjusting bolt "WITH", adjust the belt tension.
V) Tighten locknut "IN".
G) Check the tension of the accessory drive belts. Repeat the adjustment if necessary.
