Attention:
  • Check the condition and tension of the drive belts of the attachments as necessary.
  • Check the tension and deflection of the drive belts of the attachments only in the places indicated in the figures.
  • Check accessory drive belts on a cold engine or wait 30 minutes after the engine has stopped.

1 - crankshaft pulley,

1 - crankshaft pulley,
2 - coolant pump drives,
3 - drive belt for attachments,
4 - generator drive pulley,
5 - intermediate pulley,
6 - air conditioning compressor drive pulley.

Examination

1. Check that the drive belts are positioned correctly on the pulleys.

2. Check the drive belts for wear, cracks and delamination. If damaged, replace the belt.

3. Check the drive belt deflection under an applied force of 98 N exactly in the middle between the pulleys, as shown in the figure. Adjust if necessary.

Sag of the drive belt of the attachment units:

Generator:
  • new - 7.4 - 9.4 mm
  • used - 8.7-10.4 mm
  • maximum - 40.3 mm

Air conditioning compressor:

In place "a":
  • new - 6.1 - 6.9 mm
  • used - 7.1 - 8.0 mm
  • maximum - 11.3 mm

In place "b":
  • new - 10.0-11.0 mm
  • used - 11.3-12.6 mm
  • maximum - 17.4 mm

2 - coolant pump drive pulley,
3 - generator drive pulley,
4 - air conditioning compressor drive pulley.

Note:
  • The term "used belt" refers to a belt that has been in service for more than 5 minutes.
  • After installing the belt, start the engine and let it run for 5 minutes, then check the belt tension again.
  • After installing the belt, check that it is seated correctly on the pulleys. Check with your hand at the bottom of the pulleys to see if there is a loose groove on the pulley).

After installing the belt, check that it is seated correctly on the pulleys. Check with your hand…

4. Check the tension of the drive belts of the attachments.

Install the special tool for checking the belt tension between the two pulleys at the locations shown in the figure and check the tension. If the belt tension is less than the specified value, adjust it.

1 - when installing a special device,

1 - when installing a special device,
2 - when measuring.

Tensioning the drive belt of the attachments:

Generator:
  • new - 490 - 637 N
  • used - 431 - 539 N
  • minimum - 225 N

Air conditioning compressor:
  • new - 455 - 572 N
  • used - 353 - 431 N
  • minimum - 156 N

Adjustment

1. Generator drive belt.

a) Loosen the mounting bolt "A" and lock nut "B" shown in the figure in the "Checking" subsection.

(Content based on information from: «MAZBOOK.RU»)

b) Turn the adjusting bolt "C" to adjust the belt tension.

c) Tighten the mounting bolt "A" and lock nut "B".

d) Tighten the adjusting bolt "C".
  • Tightening torque: 8-10 Nm

d) Recheck the tension of the accessory drive belt.

2. Air conditioning compressor drive belt.

a) Loosen the lock nut "B" of the intermediate pulley, indicated in the figure in the "Checking" subsection.

b) Turn the adjusting bolt "C" to adjust the belt tension.

c) Tighten lock nut "B".

d) Check the tension of the drive belts of the attachments. Repeat the adjustment if necessary.
