Installing an oil filter (diesel) (Mazda 3 BK)

Warning! Remove and install all components only on a cold engine, otherwise, serious burns or serious injury may occur.


Warning! A jacked up but unsecured vehicle is dangerous.


Warning: Never work near or under a raised vehicle unless it is securely supported by supports.


Caution: If engine oil is spilled on the front exhaust pipe, wipe it off completely.


Warning: If you do not clean up the spilled oil, it will become a source of white smoke due to the high temperature.


Remove the bottom cover.

Remove the oil filter using a special tool.

Use a clean rag to wipe the seating surface on the cylinder block.

Apply clean engine oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.

Install the oil filter using the special tool and observing the specified tightening torque (fig. 2.289).
  • Tightening torque: 11.7–15.7 Nm.

Fill with the required amount of engine oil.

Start the engine and check for oil leaks.

If there is an oil leak, find out the cause and repair or replace the affected component.

Check the oil level.

Install the bottom cover.
