For ease of use, a remote control (Fig. 7.98) of a simplified design is used for the automobile navigation system.
There is a slot on the center console for storing the remote control.
The buttons and control knob of the car navigation system are located on the front side of the remote control. An infrared radio transmitter sends signals through the terminals on the front and rear ends of the remote control.
The infrared sensor that receives signals from the remote control is located in the remote control socket. The received signals are transmitted to the LCD monitor unit.
The power source for the remote control when it is outside the socket is the rechargeable batteries, when the remote control is placed in the socket - the power source connector. (The ignition switch is in the ACC or ON position).
Note: The batteries will not charge when the remote control is in the slot.
