Fig. 1.19. Starting the engine using a wearable card "Advanced Key": 1 – internal transmitter
The system's coverage area when starting the engine covers almost the entire interior of the vehicle, except for the luggage compartment or compartment (Fig. 1.19).
Even though the luggage compartment or compartment is located outside the system's coverage area, starting the engine may sometimes be possible. The engine may not start if the wearable card "Advanced Key" is located in the following zones:
- near the dashboard;
- in one of the storage compartments, for example in the glove compartment;
- on the rear storage shelf (sedan cars).
Starting the engine is sometimes possible even if the wearable card is outside the vehicle, but very close to a door or window. However, the engine should always be started from the driver's seat. If the engine is running and the wearable card is outside the vehicle, it will not be possible to restart the engine after it has been switched off and the ignition switch has been turned to the steering wheel lock position. If the system detects a wearable card "Advanced Key" within the working area, the indicator built into the card lights up briefly.
The vehicle keyless entry system is designed to function normally at a distance of no more than 1 m from the vehicle. However, the range of the remote control may vary depending on local conditions in the immediate vicinity of the vehicle. The remote control system does not function when the key is inserted into the ignition switch. The doors and trunk lid or liftgate are not locked with the lock button if any of the vehicle doors or the trunk lid or liftgate is open. The direction indicators also do not flash. If the system does not respond when the remote control button is pressed or the range has become too short, this may indicate that the remote control battery is discharged. Additional remote controls can be purchased at an authorized Mazda dealer. Up to three remote controls can be used simultaneously on one vehicle. All available remote controls must be brought to an authorized Mazda dealer so that the codes can be reprogrammed.
