- Before connecting the auxiliary battery, make sure the ignition is off (the key is turned to the OFF position).
- Make sure all electrical equipment in the vehicle is turned off (lighting fixtures, heater, windshield wipers, etc.).
- Be sure to wear safety glasses.
- Make sure that the auxiliary battery has the same output voltage as the one installed in your vehicle.
- If starting is carried out from a battery installed in another car, make sure that there are no points of contact between the cars!
- Make sure the transmission is in neutral (manual transmission) or in the "P" (Park) position (automatic transmission).
- If the booster battery is a serviceable type, remove the vent caps from the battery and cover the openings with rags.
2. Connect the red jumper cable from the jump starter kit between the positive (+) terminals of both batteries. Then connect the second (black) jumper cable from the kit first to the negative (-) terminal of the jumper battery, and then to a good ground point on your vehicle (such as a bolt or bracket on the engine block, preferably within 45 cm of the battery). Make sure that the wires do not touch moving components in the engine compartment (such as fan blades, drive belts, etc.).
3. Start the engine from the auxiliary battery, then, leaving it running at idle speed, turn on the heater fan motor (at maximum speed) or a glass heater to smooth out voltage spikes that may occur when disconnecting wires (do not turn on lighting fixtures, as significant voltage surges can cause the lamps to burn out). Disconnect the wires in the reverse order of their connection.
