Jacking up
For many maintenance and repair jobs, the vehicle must be raised. In workshops, the vehicle is usually raised with a platform lift, but it can also be raised with a car or workshop jack. The vehicle must be raised by the points shown below, otherwise deformation cannot be ruled out.
When working under a vehicle, if it is not on a platform, it must stand on 2 or 4 reliable supports.
Warning! Never work under a vehicle if it is not securely secured or is only supported by a lift.
The vehicle can only be lifted when unloaded.
When lifting, always secure the vehicle against rolling with wedges.

Attention! By using rubber or wooden pads when lifting, damage to the body is avoided.

Front part

Raise the vehicle from the front by the crossbar -arrow-.
Up to 9/89 and all station wagons
Install two supports under the threshold on the left and right.
Since 10/89 issue.
Install two supports under the frame on the left and right.

Rear end

Raise the vehicle from behind by the middle of the crossmember. On all-wheel drive vehicles, lift by the differential.
Up to 9/89 and all station wagons
Install two supports under the threshold on the right and left.
Since 10/89 issue.

Install two supports under the frame on the left and right.
Side jack installation points

The installation points of the side jack are marked on the threshold with recesses. Install the jack in these recesses, while the bulges on the threshold should enter the groove of the jack.
Wheels that remain on the ground when lifted should be secured with wedges. Do not rely on the parking brake, as it must be released for many jobs.
Raise the vehicle only on a level, solid surface.
Caution: If the vehicle needs to be lifted on a soft surface, wide boards should be placed under the jack or trestles so that the weight is distributed over a larger area.
The sawhorses should be installed so that one support on each side faces outward.
Warning! Under no circumstances should the vehicle be lifted by the engine or gearbox, or supported by them. Never start the engine of a lifted vehicle or engage a gear until only one drive wheel is on the ground.
Towing a car

Towing rules
1. Turn the ignition switch to the "ACC" (I) position to unlock the steering wheel and be able to turn on the horn and/or windshield wiper.
2. Set the gearbox to neutral. On vehicles with automatic transmission, set the gear selector lever to the "N" position.
3. In Germany, turn on the hazard warning lights on both cars (or follow other rules).
4. Since the brake booster only works when the engine is running, on vehicles with a brake booster and the engine off, more force must be applied to the brake pedal.
5. On cars with power steering, more effort is required to control, since the power steering does not work when the engine is not running.
6. Tow the vehicle only in the direction of travel.
7. The towing rope or bar must be positioned so that the towing eyes are not loaded by lateral forces.
8. To protect the vehicles, the towing rope must be elastic. Use only polymer ropes or ropes with an elastic link.
Warning: It is safest to use a towing bar.
Attention! Maximum towing speed: 50 km/h! Maximum towing distance: 80 km/h!
9. For towing over long distances, raise the front of the vehicle.
10. Without transmission oil, the vehicle can only be towed with the front part raised.
11. With the help of a special towing vehicle, the car can only be towed forward (with the front wheels raised). The front wheels of the vehicle with the rear wheels raised must be mounted on a trolley.
12. On all-wheel drive vehicles, all wheels must be raised. Tow the vehicle L - 6813, or completely submerge it.
Warning! Towing is not possible for vehicles with automatic transmission. Also, vehicles with a catalytic converter should not be towed, otherwise there is a risk of damaging the catalytic converter.
