The holes for the screw-in towing hook are located at the front (1) and rear (2) behind the plastic covers in the bumpers.

Note: On the Fiesta Courier model, the towbar can only be screwed into the front.

Installing a towing hook

Installing a towing hook

Remove the hook from the toolbox (on the right in the trunk under the lid).

Remove the hook from the toolbox (on the right in the trunk under the lid).

Pry off the cover in the bumper.

Please note: The tow hook has a left-hand thread.

Screw in the hook by turning it counterclockwise and tighten it with the handle of the wheel nut wrench.

Towing rules

Turn on the ignition so that the steering wheel does not lock, the brake lights work, and the horn and windshield wipers can operate.

Engage neutral gear, and for automatic transmissions, move the selector to the "N" position.

Turn on the hazard warning lights on both vehicles.

Since the brake booster and power steering only work when the engine is running, they require more effort when the engine is not running.

It is recommended to tow with a rigid hitch. When using a towing rope, there is a risk of collision. The towing rope must be elastic so that it is constantly taut. Use a rope with elastic threads or with an intermediate elastic element.

When towing over long distances, the towed vehicle must be loaded onto the towing vehicle, either fully or partially.

If there is no fluid in the gearbox, the vehicle can be towed with the drive wheels raised.

Caution: To prevent damage to the transmission, never tow the vehicle backwards while the drive wheels are turning.

Starting the engine with acceleration (towing) car

Attention! Starting the engine by accelerating the car for cars with an automatic transmission is not possible. For cars with a catalytic converter, you can only make one attempt to start the engine by accelerating on a car with a cold engine, because otherwise there is a risk of damaging the catalytic converter.

Turn on the ignition.

Press the gas pedal.

Press the clutch pedal and engage third gear.

Accelerate the car by towing or pushing it.

Slowly release the clutch pedal.

Note: A cold diesel engine is very difficult to start by towing, because the pre-heating system cannot operate when the battery is discharged.
