However, color difference may occur even when using original paint due to the fact that the paint on the car ages under the influence of sunlight, temperature changes, weather conditions, exposure to chemicals and changes its color. In addition, there are paint fading and color changes due to the use of inappropriate paint care products.
Metallic paintwork consists of two layers - the metallic base paint and a colourless protective varnish. When painting, the clear varnish is applied to the still wet base paint. For such coatings, the risk of colour differences during subsequent touch-up painting is particularly high, since the different viscosity of the repair paint and the original paint will lead to colour differences.
Repair of stone impacts
It makes sense to regularly repair even the smallest damage to the paintwork to prevent corrosion.
For small chips and dents that only damage the top layer of paint and do not require protection down to the metal for repair, a coat of new paint is usually sufficient.
Deep dents where rust has already formed should be treated with a rust remover or the rust should be removed with a sharp knife or screwdriver until bare metal is exposed. It is very important that no traces of rust remain. A small rotating wire brush clamped in a drill chuck can be used to remove rust.
The cleaned areas must be dried and degreased using a special solvent.
Apply primer to the prepared metal surface with a thin brush. It is not recommended to apply primer from an aerosol can, it is better to spray a little primer into the can cap and dip the brush into this primer.
After the primer has dried, apply paint to it with a brush. Repair paint cans already have a brush in the lid. If you only have an aerosol can of paint, then you need to collect some paint in the can lid and dip the brush into the lid with paint. Each time you apply paint, apply a thin layer of paint so that it does not drip. Then the paint should dry. Continue the process until the dent is filled with paint and the level of the painted area is flush with the surrounding surface.
