Before launch
- set the parking brake
- shift the manual transmission to idle, or the automatic transmission to position "P" or "N".
Starting a cold engine
Turn the ignition key to position 2. The battery and pre-glow filament lights will come on. The pre-heating process has begun.
The extinguished pre-glow lamp indicates that the engine can be started.
Outside temperature above 0°C:
Turn the key in the ignition switch to the right until it stops. Do not press the gas pedal.
Once the engine starts running smoothly, release the key.
Outside temperature below 0°C:
Press the gas pedal evenly together with the clutch pedal. Turn the key in the ignition switch to the right until it stops. Once the engine starts to run smoothly at high speed, release the key. Slowly release the gas pedal.
The engine starting process must not be interrupted.
If the engine is very cold, there is a risk that the engine will not start when restarted.
Starting a warm engine
Turn the key in the ignition switch until it stops. The engine will start immediately without pressing the gas pedal.
Engine stop
After you have stopped the car, turn the key in the ignition switch to position 0.
If the engine continues to run after this, stop it automatically, see. further in the instructions.
At very high coolant temperatures (for example, after a long trip), the engine will not stop immediately, it will continue to run at high idle speed for 1-2 minutes.
Note:
If the engine restart is blocked, turn the ignition key to position 0 before restarting.
Immediately after starting the engine, monitor the oil pressure reading. With the engine very cold, immediately after starting it, note the oil pressure level.
Do not allow the engine to rev at high speed until the oil pressure reading has stabilized. The battery light will come on immediately after the engine starts.
If the pre-glow lamp does not light, there is a fault in the pre-glow system. You should contact a service station. In areas where temperatures frequently drop below -18°C, we recommend equipping your car with a coolant heater.
You can get detailed information at the service station.
Caution! If the vehicle is left unattended, always remove the ignition key and lock all doors.
From the inside:
- to lock each door, press the lock button.
- to open, pull the lock button up.
- to open, pull the door handle towards you.
Caution! Do not leave children alone in the car.
