The rear hub bearings are maintenance-free. On cars up to 9/89, the bearing play is adjustable; starting from 10/89 (except for station wagon models), modified, non-adjustable hub bearings are installed.
On MAZDA 323 models with all-wheel drive, a differential is fixed to the beam to drive the rear wheels, from which two half-axles extend to the rear wheels. Otherwise, the design of the rear suspension is almost identical to that of front-wheel drive models; any differences during repair will be specifically noted.
