The power steering oil level should be checked on the expansion tank with the engine off.

Up to 9/89 issue. and all "station wagon" models



1. Unscrew the tank cap. Wipe the measuring rod with a clean cloth.

2. Reinstall the tank lid, not screwing, Remove the cover and measure the level. The oil level should be between the "H" and "L" marks.

Since 10/89 issue.



1. The oil level in the expansion tank should be between the "F" and "L" marks.

2. Otherwise, add hydraulic oil. Use only Dexron-II.

3. Be sure to add only fresh oil, as even minor contamination can lead to malfunctions in the hydraulic system.

4. After filling, turn the steering wheel several times from lock to lock with the engine running; this will remove air from the system.

5. If it is necessary to add oil, the steering system should be checked for leaks.
