Note. The engine of an automatic transmission vehicle must not be started by pushing or towing the vehicle.
1. Switch on the ignition to unlock the steering wheel and to turn on the direction indicators, horn and, if necessary, the windshield wipers.
2. Since the brake booster functions only when the engine is running, more force must be applied to the brake pedal.
3. Gear selector in position "N".
4. On vehicles with all-wheel drive, the differential lock should not be engaged.
Attention! Maximum towing speed: 50 km/h!
Attention! Maximum towing distance: 80 km!
5. For towing longer distances, the front of the vehicle must be raised, otherwise the transmission will be damaged due to insufficient lubrication.
Using a towing vehicle
Attention! Vehicles may only be towed on their rear wheels. Cause: With the rear raised, the reverse-rotating front wheels would force the automatic transmission's planetary gears to rotate at an extremely high RPM, resulting in serious damage to the automatic transmission.
On all-wheel drive vehicles, the rear wheels must also be unloaded, otherwise the intermediate differential will be overloaded. It is best to load the car or use a cart.
