  • Description of automatic transmission

On request, the MAZDA 323 models can be equipped with an automatic transmission. The automatic transmission has 3 or 4 forward gears, which are shifted automatically. For faster acceleration, for example when accelerating, the automatic has a so-called kickdown switch, which is activated when the gas pedal is fully pressed. The kickdown effect ensures that the transmission switches to a lower gear. To evaluate the operation of the automatic transmission and to correctly troubleshoot, experience with the automatic transmission and special knowledge are required. Therefore, only basic operating instructions are provided here. Maintenance (checking the oil level and changing it) discussed in Section Routine maintenance.
