Bleeding the brake system (Mazda 6 GG)

Note: The brake hydraulic system must be bled whenever the brake lines are disconnected.


If a hydraulic line is disconnected from a master cylinder, bleeding should begin with the slave cylinder farthest from the master cylinder and progress to the next farthest slave cylinder until all four cylinders have been bled.

If the disconnect point is anywhere other than the master cylinder, bleeding should begin at the point closest to the disconnect point and proceed to the next closest slave cylinder until air has been bled from all four cylinders.

Remove the bleed nipple cap and attach the vinyl pipe to the bleed nipple.

Place the other end of the vinyl pipe in a clear, liquid-filled container.

One person should press the brake pedal several times and then hold it down.

The second person must loosen the air bleed nipple, drain the liquid and tighten the nipple using a special device (Fig. 6.13).

  • Tightening torque - front wheels: 9.8 Nm.
  • Tightening torque - rear wheels: 8.8 Nm.

Repeat the bleeding operation until no more air bubbles come out of the tube.



Remove air from each node as described above.

After removing the air, check the following:
  • brake action;
  • liquid leak;
  • liquid level.
