Manual shift mode allows, to a certain extent, to simulate the control of a manual transmission and gives the driver the ability to control the engine speed and torque supplied to the drive wheels, similar to how it is done in a car with a manual transmission.
To switch to manual gear shifting mode, move the lever from the "D" (drive) position to the "M" position (manual switching).
To return to automatic gear shifting mode, move the lever from the "M" position (manual switching) to position "D" (drive).
If manual gear shift mode is enabled, the "M" indicator on the instrument panel will light up.
