Raise and support the vehicle.
Loosen the bolts and remove the exhaust system heat shield under the gear lever from the underbody.
Loosen clamping bolt and pull shift rod off gearbox shift shaft.
Using a suitable rod, move the selector shaft on the gearbox back and forth to set it to the middle position.
In the middle position of the selector shaft, turn it as far as it will go to the right and to the left in order to achieve the middle position here too. In this position, fully push the selector shaft into the gearbox (arrow in the picture).
Push the shift rod onto the shift shaft of the gearbox.
Place the shift lever in the fourth gear position. In this position, insert a 9 mm rod or drill through the hole in the shift housing and in the shift lever.
The drill locks the shift lever in this position.
Tighten the clamping bolt nut to 25 Nm. When doing this, make sure that the gearshift shaft does not rotate.
Pull the locking pin out of the gearshift housing.
Check the ease of engagement of all gears and, if necessary, repeat the adjustment.
Install the exhaust heat shield.
Lower the car.
