Checking the Condition of the Belt Tape
1. Make sure the belt is installed correctly without any twists or loops.
2. Make sure that there is no damage to the seat belt tape and that the metal fasteners are not deformed.
3. If any defects are found, replace the seat belt with a new one.
Checking the ELR mechanism (emergency rewind lock), except center rear seat belt
1. Make sure that the belt is removed and unwinds smoothly. If a defect is found, replace the seat belt with a new one.
2. Make sure that the retractor locks when the seat belt is quickly removed. If a defect is found, replace the seat belt with a new one.
3. Remove the winder.
4. By pulling the seat belt outward, make sure that it does not lock when the reel is slowly tilted up to 15°from the installation position and that it does not lock if the reel is tilted 40°or more. If a defect is found, replace the seat belt with a new one.
Checking the ELR mechanism of the center rear seat belt
Attention. The ELR mechanism of the center rear seat belt will only operate after the belt has been pulled out a certain amount. To test the ELR, buckle the center rear seat belt into the center rear brace and perform the test after removing the center rear seat belt by 130mm (ELR trip state). If the check is performed in a different state, the health of the mechanism will not be determined.
1. Fasten the center rear seat belt into the center rear brace and remove the webbing by 130 mm.
2. Make sure that the belt is removed and rewinds smoothly. If a defect is found, replace the seat belt with a new one.
3. Make sure that the retractor locks when the seat belt is quickly removed. If a defect is found, replace the seat belt with a new one.
4. Remove the winder.
5. By pulling the seat belt outward, make sure that it does not lock when the reel is slowly tilted up to 15°from the installation position and that it does not lock if the reel is tilted 40°or more. If a defect is found, replace the seat belt with a new one.
Checking the seat belt load limiter
Attention. When the load limiter is activated, the band and the anchor rub against each other with force, leaving traces of wear. If the seat belt is used in this condition, it is likely that it will not be able to perform its full function, which could cause injury to passengers. If the load limiter trips, replace the seat belt with a new one.
If the vehicle has been hit by an accident, remove the belt from the reel and check for signs of wear (evidence of the operation of the load limiter) visual inspection and palpation. If any defects are found, replace the seat belt with a new one.
